Motown Mission looks forward to Amanda's arrival June of 2018!

After a rewarding search and interview process that brought the YLI Board into contact with many great candidates, Amanda Mountain has been chosen to lead our Motown Mission program.

Amanda Mountain is a Deaconess with The United Methodist Church and a lifelong United Methodist. She comes to Motown Mission having most recently worked as the Associate Director of Development and Church Relations with McCurdy Ministries Community Center in Espanola, NM. Prior to McCurdy, Amanda served 2 years as a consultant with the General Commission on the Status and Role of Women (GCSRW) working on various projects including researching and writing the monthly Women by the Numbers monitoring series, helping plan and coordinate events such as Do No Harm, representing GCSRW and leading workshops on inclusive language for God at national events such as Youth 2015, and most recently authoring a 4 session curriculum for local churches on the theology of integrity.

Amanda also served 5 years with the General Board of Global Ministries as Mission Specialist and as Missionary Relationships Manager with The Advance. Her work with Global Ministries included overseeing the B1 program, leading workshops on the theology of mission and fundraising for young people, training missionaries in fundraising principles and helping to create the fundraising strategy for the Global Mission Fellows program.

Amanda earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in dance from Mercyhurst University and enjoyed a career as a professional ballet dancer and teacher prior to graduating from Candler School of Theology at Emory University with a Masters of Divinity degree with a certificate in religious education with a youth ministry focus. During seminary, Amanda spent two summers as a mentor with the Youth Theological Initiative, a summer theology academy for high school students at Emory University.
