This past week was fantastic for me. I worked closely with the same group all week, and really got to know many of them. We were building carnival games to give to local community centers so that they could have them for family fun nights and not have to pay large sums of money to rent them. We started with the bare wood materials, and measured, sawed, and drilled them before priming and painting them. It was a lot of fun for everyone. We had artists in the group who planned what to paint on each game, and they turned out really nice. While we were at it, we also built and painted a sign for the local community box garden that had been built the week prior. I helped with some of the more intricate details of it, painting in what Emily, one of the volunteers, drew. I really enjoyed getting to know Emily as we painted together; building relationships with the volunteers of this group was what made this week so special to me.
